Personal Blog

I grew up in New Zealand which gave me a taste for hiking and wild places. Reading atlases and books on the world's more far-flung and exotic locations eventually took me through some 130 odd countries. I always had a love of photography (I still do) and diving into unknown cultures and cuisines.

As I get time, I'll add some fun travel memories, favourite recipes, hiking routes, photography techniques and anything else that springs to mind. Enjoy!

Best Asian Chilli Sauce Recipe

Best Asian Chilli Sauce Recipe

I love this sauce. I think I might be addicted to it. It gets added to so many dishes I make and even gets used as pesto, steak sauce and sandwich spread. Make it as hot or mild as you like. Easy to make, using easy to find ingredients. If you like chilli sauce with a bang of ginger and garlic, this is for you!

Cleaning Images Using Frequency Separation

Frequency separation is a powerful technique for cleaning photos from dust spots, lens flare and much more, and also a very good way of targeted sharpening. This excellent video from Jimmy McIntyre gives a great explanation of how to do it.

A 3 year journey

In 2016, I took the opportunity to head out on a journey that took me from one end of Asia to the other end of Europe on a fairly convoluted path.
